“It’s not a matter of if, but when.”

In business for almost 100 years, Sunripe Certified Brands has been  growing, packing and shipping a variety of fresh tomatoes and citrus year round.

Jacob Fenuccio, a strategist at Sunripe Certified brands, uses AI in the farms ' company software, which is still in the beta-phase. Fenuccio says, "Yes, we are familiar with artificial intelligence and we do our best as a company to not only be aware of its potential threats and opportunities, but also incorporate it into our business."

Fenuccio points out that introducing AI into an existing farm can be problematic. It is a matter of balancing experimentation with day-to-day operations. The farm needs to continue regular business practices while testing, investing and attempting to use new technology. Fenuccio says,"We certainly have many people analyzing our data for various applications, reports, decisions, etc. and we are open to opportunities that AI solutions present as they become more robust and affordable." This shows AI 's accessibility is not only changing, but critical to its implementation.

AI in agriculture may not be well understood or affordable for all farmers now, but the future is promising. "It’s not a matter of if, but when," Fenuccio says. Companies that harness the power of AI for their business are going to be difficult, if not impossible, for competitors to catch as the technology develops for various farming applications."
