Brown's Grove Citrus and Produce

"We will always need the human to incorporate technology into the farm."

Some small and local farms are not just businesses, but also family legacies. Keeping farming in the family, Brown's Citrus and Produce is now going on its third generation with current owner Tim Brown.

Brown hasn't fully incorporated AI into his farming practices. He says, "I'm somewhat familiar with it. It's become more popular all the time." The only AI Brown has implemented into his farming practices is a spraying technique. This involves a machine detecting when trees are present and shutting the sprayer off when necessary, saving chemicals, which is more efficient. This is especially important for a small farm.

Reflecting on AI and how it can influence the future of farming, Brown disagrees with the notion of it eliminating the human touch. AI brings more technology into the farming business, but Brown counters, "We will always need the human to incorporate technology into the farm." If anything, Brown sees AI as a positive. He shares, "It's a rapid way to get responses."

Brown believes AI holds great promise and will positively impact the future of farming. "Most of all it will allow farmers to grow a better product and make wiser decisions to produce more quality produce." Farming isn't static, it is an evolving business that has the ability to adapt and grow with technology.
